Competitive pricing
All essential communication equipment found aboard a vessel is included in the
GMDSS simulator. It consists of a computer network connecting the instructor station with
up to 26 student stations. All radio communications equipment required for sea areas
A1 to A4 are included. To simulate search and rescue training, the radar and ship’s
manoeuvring capabilities is standard. The equipment will enable students to obtain
Restricted Operator Certificate (ROC) and General Operator Certificate (GOC).
Student stations
The student stations can communicate with the instructor or between each another,
acting as ships, aircraft or shore stations. Depending on the training objective
specific exercises to cover those areas can be designed. The instructor can configure
which instruments are available to the students for each exercise, as well as simulating
loss of equipment.
Simulated equipment
The GMDSS simulator includes all equipment required to carry out advanced exercises
in all aspects of GMDSS/SAR training. The various equipment is realistically emulated
on the PC screens graphically simulating the radio equipment most commonly used
onboard ships today. As optional equipment the radio/voice equipment such as the
VHF and HF/ HF Radio are also available. All these system are solid mechanical devices
and similar to the equipment found onboard a modern vessel with speaker, handset
and keypads.
Instructor stations
The instructor station consists of a Personal Computer including keyboard,
mouse, monitor, printer and headset. It allows the instructor to create exercises.
System parameters include geographical position, ship’s heading and speed, identification
name and numbers, sea area, and types of equipment available on board.

simulators. The Polaris GMDSS simulator, is type approved by Det Norske Veritas
and in full compliance with and exceeding the requirements of the IMO STCW '95,
ITU and SOLAS.
