Binders and binding

The binding used to hold our end user manuals shall be identical with respect to appearance, colour, and physical appearance. In order to establish this common appearance throughout the company, the following specifications have been created.

The following binding methods are accepted:

  • Ring binder
  • Resin steel binding
  • Booklet printing

Ring binders

Observe the following basic specifications for all ring binders used to hold end user manuals.

  • Colour: White
  • Width: Use the standard widths commercially available
  • Number of rings: Four, standard commercial type
  • Spine text: Pocket for dedicated label with text.
  • Spine logo: Printed on binder. The logo is 20 mm wide. The top of the logo is placed 55 mm from the bottom of the binder.
  • Front page: Pocket for dedicated front page, one extra seam added to hold the A4 front page in place.

Resin steel binders

Commercial machines are available from Unibind and other suppliers. Observe the following specifications.

  • Spine colour: White, no text
  • Width: Use the standard widths commercially available
  • Front and back cover: Transparent

The first page in the book must always be the front page printed in colour.

Booklet printing

Most current printer/copiers offer booklet printing in A4 and A3.
