TRADOS Status

Status information provided by the editor

The middle column in the editor view provides the current status of the translations. When the file is closed, the information from this column is used to provide the status bar in the file list, which indicates how much of the file that has been translated.

Several icons are used in this column.

If you hold the mouse over the icons, a small rectangle displays the meaning of each icon.

  1. Pencil and "V" = Translation ok

This is the most important icon. It means that the translation is ok, and that the text has been saved in the translation memory.

    Example:

This icon appears once you press Ctrl-Enter in the target language cell.

    Other icons may be added.

If the icon appears without the "V", it means that you have forgotten to press Ctrl-Enter.

  2. Green rectangle w/100% = The translation was found in the translation memory

A score of 100% is always an exact match. However, an exact match might not be a 100% match. (If the translation memory or translation unit is penalized, the score is reduced.)

  3. Green rectangle w/CM = Context match

A match that takes into account the context within which the match occurs. Usually this means surrounding segments. A context match is even more likely to be correct than a 100% match of a segment. There are different kinds of context match, depending on which aspects of context are taken into account.

  4. Red circle with X = Error

Hold the mouse over the error icon to see the message. You can also see all messages if you click the Messages tab over the editor view.

  5. Yellow triangle with exclamation mark = Warning

Hold the mouse over the warning icon to see the message. You can also see all messages if you click the Messages tab over the editor view.

    Example:

  6. Blue circle with i = Information

Hold the mouse over the information icon to see the message. You can also see all messages if you click the Messages tab over the editor view.

  7. Yellow rectangle w/100% = The text was translated and confirmed by auto-propagation.

Auto-propagation is the process whereby the confirmed translation of one text is applied to another text (in the same document) that have similar source content. Auto-propagation takes place when you confirm a translation. If other idenctical texts appear in the same document, then depending on the settings you have chosen, the translation may be applied automatically to these, or you will be asked if you want the application to take place.

  8. Yellow rectangle w/number = An approximate translation was found in the translation memory

The text was translated by applying a fuzzy translation memory match but has not yet been confirmed. A fuzzy match is a less than 100% match.

  9. Transparent rectangle w/number = An approximate translation was found in the translation memory

The text was translated by applying a 77% translation memory match (a fuzzy match) and then editing and confirming the translation. The fuzzy match figure is retained so that you can tell that this was a fuzzy match which was subsequently edited. When you edit a text, the background color of the percentage match figure disappears.

  10. White rectangle = The text has not been translated.
