A recent example of such activity carried out by Kongsberg Maritime is the conversion
of the Odin shuttle tanker into the Alvheim FPSO for the Marathon Oil Company.
The project required the integration of both the existing marine and new topside
control systems, a highly technical challenge that required an organised approach
from day one as the project was tendered as two separate contracts, but with the
overall goal of complete integration between the hull and topsides. It was a complex
scenario and complex delivery, but through systems and project management
experience was completed on time and within budget.
More value to our customers
"Our engineers are involved in undertakings like the Alvheim FPSO every day of
the year but with Kongsberg Maritime Engineering established, we can approach these
technical, challenging projects from a central point within the company, which will
provide even better organisation and ultimately more value to our customers," says
Torfinn Kildal. "As with our process simulation and marine offshore simulation divisions,
our extensive offering to the Offshore and Oil & Gas industries is made very clear
by the introduction of Kongsberg Maritime Engineering."
