Resolution and coverage

This table provides approximate values for resolution and area coverage rate for different imaging sonars. Along track resolution of synthetic aperture sensors is constant with range. For side scan sonar type of systems, along track resolution increase with range. In the table, the quoted along track resolution match the range for the area coverage rate.
